The Provincial Council promotes institutional coordination with the municipalities included in the ‘Vertical Path’ to favor the execution of the planned actions.

The Provincial Council of Cordoba has hosted the first briefing to publicize the actions planned in the project ‘Vertical Path’ to municipalities, associations and security forces of the municipalities benefiting from this initiative.

A session with which it has tried to “promote the coordination and collaboration of all institutions involved in the implementation of this initiative with which we move forward in the sustainable development of the regions that host the Mozarabic Way of St. James in our province”.

This is one of the objectives advanced by the delegate of Finance and European Funds of the provincial institution, Ana Rosa Ruz, who recalled that “we are facing the implementation of a new phase of an ambitious project that has received the support of European funds through the cross-border cooperation program Interreg VI-A Spain-Portugal (Poctep)”.

Ruz remarked that “‘Camino Vertical’ has the participation of 12 partners from different provinces of Spain and Portugal in an initiative focused on the protection, development and promotion of tourism resources and heritage associated with the Jacobean Ways of the western peninsular”.

“On this occasion we will address the revaluation and revitalization of the various sections that make up the three routes of the Mozarabic Way of St. James that we have in the province, for which we will work especially in raising awareness of the various populations through which it passes, “explained the deputy.

To this end, added the head of European Funds, “two major actions are planned aimed at the enhancement, improvement and recovery of the Jacobean Ways, as well as raising awareness, dynamization and improvement of the tourism competitiveness of the Way”.

Awareness Campaign

The second line of action, the awareness campaign, will be launched in January and will continue until April with a total of seven activities to be carried out in as many municipalities.

Specifically, ‘The values of the Mozarabic Way to Cerro Muriano’, with the realization of a section of the itinerary; in Castro del Río will take place ‘Sigue la Flecha’ to make visible the urban route; in Cabra will be carried out the ‘The values of the Mozarabic Way to Cerro Muriano’. scape city In Baena ‘What the Mozarabic Way hides’ will show the local population the route in their municipality; an awareness-raising event in Cabra around the Subbetic Marathon; in Hinojosa del Duque the activity ‘The footprint of the Mozarabic Way’ will be developed, and finally, there will be a conference ‘Strategies of encounter on the Mozarabic Way’, for which a mixed format has been planned in person and online.
