Camino de Málaga

Málaga - Almogía

After crossing the city of Malaga from the Church of Santiago we find ourselves in the Urbanization Puerto Sol, in the District of Puerto de la Torre, north of the capital. After leaving it, we will cross a tunnel under the A-7 to join the Camino de Cupiana. After crossing the Arch of San Cayetano, we will arrive at the settlement of Junta de los Caminos along the A-7075 road (km. 2.6). At the exit, we will travel along the Arroyo de la Piedra Horadada watercourse, we will arrive at the bridge over the Campanillas River and 1 km further on, after taking a detour, we will take the road to the Campanillas River. Further on, after taking a detour to the left along a steeply sloping path at the height of the Núñez, the scattered urban landscape will gradually give way to a forest landscape with very scattered civilization where, along with species characteristic of Mediterranean scrubland, we will find relicts of woody crops such as almond, carob, wild olive and olive trees.

A series of crossroads will lead us to Los Suizos (km. 7.9) and after a steep descent and fording the bed of the Arroyo de los Olivos, we will take a steep slope path, to lead to the Camino del Corbite (km. 9.5), whose name comes from the place where it runs. We are at the highest point of the stage, an ideal place for bird watching. The brown terrain of phyllites and metarenisks of the Malaguide Complex with stony and shallow soils, together with the steep slopes, have limited agricultural activity to small stands of mostly dry land.

After overcoming a new elevation, we will take the Camino de Buenavista in approximately 1.6 Km. Then, turn right onto a downhill path that leads to an asphalt road that will take you to Almogía. Cross the road with the utmost caution to reach, in the upper area of the municipality, the Pilgrims' Hostel.
